One of the most interesting objects of this kind is part of the silver gilt cover of the palladium of the Monastery, i.e. the holy icon of the Virgin of Kykkos. A work from a Cypriot workshop, it was made in Nicosia in 1576 during the abbotship of Abbot Gregorios (1576?-1589?) by the goldsmith Toumazos. At the bottom it has an affixed, probably older, silver gilt frieze with little busts of apostles and saints (picture 32).

Pict. 33 Wood-carved cross with base. Probably made by George Lascaris, 1545.
Among items of micro-sculpture a wooden cross with a base of 1545 is of special interest. It is decorated with micro-sculptures, in some cases with representations from the 0Id and New Testaments carved in full and with holes. The cross is one of the most noteworthy works of its kind and it is considered to be the work of the well-known microsculptor George Laskaris (pictures 33, 34, 35).
